Senior Project Engineer

Position Location: Lake Charles, LA area

ReCon Engineering and Management Services is seeking qualified Project Engineers for in-plant opportunities in the Southwest Louisiana area.

The Senior Project Engineer (SPE) directs capital project execution, including project engineering, procurement and construction for projects. The SPE has oversight of all aspects of project execution in order to meet budget and schedule commitments including contract strategies, execution plans and contractor selection. Effective communication and building and maintaining strong relationships are critical competencies; the SPE may direct the work of other staff project engineers, project controls staff, and contractor resources. This position coordinates funding approval, ensures proper alignment of project with stakeholder requirements, controls project scope, oversees project change management and conducts quality and progress reviews at established milestones.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Executing projects per the site project FEL process
  • Ensuring project engineering conforms to Required Standards and Recommended Engineering Practices
  • Overseeing the development of AFD and AFE quality estimates
  • Coordinating the FEL and detailed engineering with mechanical, civil, instrument and electrical resources
  • Ensuring timely interface with technical consultants, area resources and operations
  • Developing project execution plans and project milestone schedule
  • Soliciting and obtaining capital project funding approvals
  • Representing company in supervising external contract engineering services
  • Providing construction and turnaround project engineering support
  • Managing project spend forecasts and change orders
  • Coordinating MOC process for assigned projects
  • Mentoring less experienced project engineers

Qualifications Basic/Required:

  • Bachelorís Degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil, Process, or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of capital project management experience
  • Clearly demonstrated strong project management competence
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple project assignments
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/twic/index.shtm\

Preferred:

  • 10 or more years of direct experience in the chemical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor less experienced project engineers
  • Demonstrated interpersonal / teambuilding skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
