Process Engineer

ReCon is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Process Engineer role at an industry location in the Sulphur, LA area.

TITLE: Process Engineer

REPORTS TO:  Process Engineer Team Lead

BUSINESS:  Refining Technologies

Summary of the duties of the position:

Accountable for the continuous improvement of process capability and capacity

Primary responsibilities for this position:

  • Maintains over-all understanding of process capability & capacity
  • Identifies and defines requirements for process improvement / productivity projects
  • Develops process engineering packages for new products or equipment (FEL 1 studies) with external support (R&D and Process Technology)
  • Executes and tracks productivity projects
  • Supports troubleshooting long term process / production issues
  • Ensures usage of process related best practices & standards
  • Optimizes production planning guidance – Product Wheel, EOQ, etc.
  • Manages minor capital & non-capital projects using the Facilities Project Methodology workflow and stage gate system.
  • Conduct plant trials for new products and support development work
  • Facilitates process mapping, kaizen and value stream mapping events aimed at developing a project pipeline
  • Develops process narratives and process control support to ensure process/quality variations are minimized
  • Provides statistical data analysis for RCAs
  • Develops control plans
  • Conducts regulatory compliance calculations, reporting and interfacing
  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives
  • Supports & facilitates RCAs
  • Writes and edits SOP/work instructions
  • Supports the training of site personnel
  • Leads or participates in Management of Change (MOCs) administration
  • Leads or participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including FMP and PSSR
  • Conducts Commissioning and Startup Activities
  • Participates in plant inspections and walkthroughs
  • Conducts OIRs and incident investigations
  • Supports Purchasing/GRs/New Vendors/Requisitions
  • Redlines Engineering Drawings and Documents
  • Manages and catalogs engineering documents and drawings
  • Manage process information and updates for P&ID, MOC, Interlock Schedule, etc.
  • Assists with emergencies
  • Conducts data sourcing and analysis

Required Education/Experience/Certifications Required/Sought:

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or another engineering discipline
  • 5+ years engineering experience in a petro-chemical manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as a Production or Process Engineer preferred
  • Six Sigma certification/Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred
